 CONE WINDING


WINDING : Winding is the process of conversion of yarn in cops to other packages means cone, cheese etc.

THE MAIN OBJECTS OF WINDING ARE :

1. To eliminate objectionable yarn faults and
2. To produce suitable  wound packages for further process.

PASSAGE OF YARN :

Feed packages (cops) -> yarn guide -> yarn clearer -> cone

PARTS : 1.Up right creel 2. Tension washer 3. Wax washer 4.yarn clearer 5.Spiral drum.

WINDING PERAMETERS :
1.Winding speed
2. Winding tension
3.yarn clearer setting.
                                                 Are three basic perameters in winding .These perameters should be selected on the basis of type yarn, count, yarn quality, desired degree of clearing and type winding machine.

WINDING SPEED :

Winding speed usually expressed in meters/min, influences the productivity of the winding machine. Higher the speed, generally the production is also higher. The winding speed should be optimum, according to quality of yarn, supply packages characteristic, level of winding tension and capability of machine parts to in a sustained manner.

WINDING TENSION :

Yarn tension is an important winding perameters and its functions  are
A).To Achieve satisfactory running of yarn on the machine
B).To break out some of the weak places in the yarn                                                   
C).To produce packages of desired compactness.
The winding tension is depend on yarn counts, winding speed, tensioning device.






YARN CLEARER SETTING :

Some of the faults like weak places, soft slubs etc.
break under the action of winding tension. while some other faults like hard slubs embedded fluff, piece ups etc. are deliberately removed with the help of a device known as YARN CLEARER. The function of yarn clearer is to detect and remove yarn faults, basically yarn clearers are two types 1. MACHANICAL 2.ELECTRICAL.

CLASSIFICATION OF YARN CLEARERS

1.MACHANICAL : Conventional fixed blunt blade type.
                                     Serrated blade, light blade.
2.ELECTRICAL : Capacitance type, Photo - electric type.

YARN DIAMETER  = 0.95 //COUNT  m.m.                                                                   
Twice yarn diameter in carded counts and 1.5 times yarn diameter in combed counts.

TENSION WEIGHTS IN Grams =  0.571 * English lea strength in KG + 1.8

PACKAGE FAULTS :

1.Stiching (or) Jali formation : An entangled web of yarn known as JALI is formed when the yarn during traverse falls outside the package edges. It can be due to     

1.Cone holder vibration
2.Non alignment of tension bracket with drum
3.Improper fit of cones on cone holder
4.Cone holder incorrectly set to winding drum
5.Alarge vibration in yarn tension during traverse.
6.Excessive sloughing off of ring bobbin.
                                   
2. patterning (or) ribbon formation: Patterning is said to take place when succeeding ones  It happens 1. when the ratio of the rotational speed of the package and that of the traversing unit is a whole number. This is because of defective setting of cam switch for pilot motor (Ribbon  breaking device failure).

3.  Bell shaped cone:
1.High Yarn tension during winding.
2.cone holder incorrectly set to winding drum
4.Building nose: Incorrect alignment of the axis of the package with that of the drum affects uniformity of pressure between the package and the drum across the width of the package.
5. End breaks in cone winding:

1.Excessive tension
2.Supply spindle out of line with yarn guide
3.Defective slub catcher setting
4.Excessive sloughing off of ring bobbin
